Digital Mobility - Vehicles and Stations
A project in the context of the initiative
"Digital interconnection of public transport"
Development of standardized interfaces und connection standards between different passenger information systems used in public transport, taking account of the importance of the station and the vehicle as a main linkage in the intermodal travel sequence of the passenger.
For passengers stations and vehicles are essential elements in their travel sequence. To receive the necessary travel information, especially on a longer trip e. g. beyond country boarders, using public transport and different sharing offers, the passenger uses information systems like displays, audio installations and ticket machines installed in the vehicles and at the stations.
The custom-built information systems of various manufacturers provide a poor consistency of the information. Most passengers are unable to cope with this situation. Their need for travel information is not dependable satisfied.
Therefore it is sensible to standardize the interfaces of stations and vehicles. That will provide a comfortable journey for the passenger even if they are using different types of transport or different mobility environments.
